This lovely home is a hand made, two story adobe with a bright sunroom that provides warmth in the winter. The two feet thick walls lend the house grace and ageless ambiance. There are four bedrooms with one full and one half bath. A hot tub sits on the patio, graceful porches surround the house to afford great views. Outside the house also offers a firepit and a traditional Baking Horno. There is a fully equipped kitchen with a wood stove, a beautifully appointed living room, and a painting studio in the sunroom. At 7,300 feet, at the base of the San Juan Mountains, the road climbs gently from the house into the forest. Explore the back country, discover expansive Alpine pastures, dive into magic mountain lakes.

If you are looking to relax, the property includes a grassy bank along El Rito Creek next to a swimming hole, an ideal place to sunbathe and unwind. Hiking into the National Forest starts 100 yards from the driveway or right out the door and up into the hills. You love to fish? Go trout fishing in the Rio Chama or Abiquiu Lake, or up in the mountain lakes of the nearby high country. You love mountain biking? Start from the house. Downhill skiing? The ski resorts in Taos, Santa Fe, and Los Alamos are not far. All the splendor of northern New Mexico is within easy reach.

A great many interesting towns, villages, Indian pueblos, museums and galleries, restaurants and local events lie within visiting range while staying in our home. In El Rito you should consider tasting the best chili verde in New Mexico at El Farolito restaurant (the famous and only restaurant in town), you should visit Martin’s General Store, serving El Rito since the early 1900’s, visit the San Juan Nepomuceno church, completed in 1832, or visit the El Rito Public Library.
